White Specter Crayfish (Procambarus clarkii)

Maximum Size: 8-15cm

The exotic, ivory white coloring of this crayfish will surely make this beautiful animal the centerpiece of your aquarium!  The White Specter Crayfish is a beautiful white variant of the similar species of the Electric Blue Crayfish (Procambarus alleni).

As it reaches adulthood, the White Specter Crayfish will become relatively territorial, so it may behave aggressively towards other animals in the tank.  It is important that ample hiding places such as rockwork, driftwood, or PVC pipes be provided.  This is even more crucial when housing multiple crayfish in the same tank.  Due to the size and waste production of this crayfish, a minimum 30-gallon, well-filtered aquarium is necessary for one adult.  A larger aquarium can house multiple adults of similar size.  This is a very hardy animal, but regular water changes are vital to its optimal health.

Recommended Tank Parameters:

1.pH level range: 6 – 8

2.Temperature range: 59° – 86° F

1.Brilliant ivory white coloration that makes for a wonderful centerpiece to the aquarium

2.Much more active than many crayfish species

3.Extremely hardy and adaptable

4.Excellent scavenger

Notes from the owner:

1.Crayfish are the hardiest freshwater specimens we have to offer, and thus tend to handle shipping and the acclimation process quite well.

2.Though crayfish are NOT friendly, they can often live with fast-moving fish (such as rasboras, danios, etc.). They are fairly slow and only a sick fish would be able to be caught by the crayfish.

Crayfish will typically eat whatever they can catch, but since they are slow-moving, they are rarely able to harm most types of fish or shrimp. They prefer foods like invertebrate pellets or blanched vegetables (such as zucchini, carrots, and spinach), but will also eat fish food and algae wafers.
