Purpureus are also known as Japanese Blueberry hermit crabs. Their color can be light blue to dark purple. Most of them are Purple-blue, Purple, Blue and Purple-Red etc. Juveniles are light in color and develop the “blueberry” characteristics with maturity. We recommend using sand and coconut fiber substrate for them to dig and molt in. Always have additional shells available for your crabs to switch into.
