The dorsal surface of Purple Land Crab (Gecarcoidea lalandii) is purple-black to purple-red, and the ventral surface is beige. Chelicerae and pedipalpalps are yellow in color. The cephalothorax is transversely ovoid, with the anterior half elevated and the posterior half relatively flat, and the lateral surfaces covered with scale-like wrinkles. Frontal margins straight, tilting sharply forward and downward. Chelicerae symmetrical or slightly asymmetrical. Pedipalps slightly flattened, joints ringed by six longitudinal rows of small spines, terminally pointed and claw-like.
