- Sphedanolestes impressicollis is distributed in southern China, India, and Japan.The body is mostly black with white (or sometimes yellowish) stripes on legs and the edge of abdomen.

- Sphedanolestes impressicollis preys fiercely and can also pick up corpses, but due to its less flexible movements, it often cannot catch fast-moving prey such as cherries.

- Caution - These insects can sting and squirt a noxious fluid, painful on contact with eyes. Not for children, but they make an interesting exhibit.
