The Utricularia nephrophylla belongs to small to medium-sized rock carnivorous plants of the genus bladderwort. Flowers are all year round.The species name Nephrophylla comes from Greek Nephros and Phyllon, meaning "kidney shaped" and "leaf", referring to its kidney shaped leaves. The bladderwort is endemic to Brazil.
