Blue Bugle ( Ajuga reptans ‘ Chocolate Chip ’ )
Ajuga reptans ‘Chocolate Chip’, nicknamed Blue Bugle, is a perennial that bears chocolate foliage tinged with tiny, oval leaves with burgundy highlights.
Violet blue flower spikes and stand about 4 inches above the foliage during late spring to early summer.
Ajuga reptans is native to Europe, blue bugle has a higher tolerance to low temperature, which should survive normal winter conditions.
Also, the plant does best in a shaded area but will adapt to morning sun, and thrives in averagely humid and well-drained soil.
As a low deciduous but fast grower, the plant typically grows to be no more than 3 or 4 inches individually, serving as an ideal dwarf ground cover for smaller gardens.
